Jeden z najwiekszych swiatowych inwestorow na rynku obligacji, PIMCO (nalezacy
do Allianz) oznajmia, ze Polska ma bardzo dobre perspektywy.

Pacific Investment Management Co., manager of the world’s largest bond fund,
said it added Polish debt holdings last week and HSBC Holdings Plc, Europe’s
biggest bank by market value, said Hungary’s stocks are a “buying opportunity.”

Poland, the only EU country to avoid a recession last year, is targeting 3
percent economic growth in 2010 from 1.7 percent in 2009. The largest of the
EU’s eastern European members is offering stakes in state-owned utilities,
insurers and chemical producers to quadruple asset sales this year and plans
to cut its budget gap to 2.9 percent of GDP in 2012 to meet EU criteria for
adopting the euro.

‘Well Run Economy’

Poland “is a well run economy,” Michael Gomez, co-head of emerging markets at
Pimco in Newport Beach, California, said in a Feb. 11 interview on Bloomberg
Television. “It has a manageable debt load and fiscal deficit.”

The country’s debt is equivalent to 51.7 percent of GDP, less than half the
level of Greece and below the euro zone average of 78.2 percent, European
Commission data for 2009 show.

In a statement released Wednesday, the world’s largest hog farmer and pork
processor said Constar SA of Starachowice is undergoing an independent review
of its meat processing practices.

The audit is being led by Piotr Kolodziej , former chief veterinary officer
for the government of Poland.

All Constar meat products also are being pulled from store shelves for
inspection, Smithfield said.

Late last week, daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita and television channel TVN
caught workers at the Constar plant on hidden cameras, debating whether
expired products sent back by stores should be thrown out or cleaned up and
sent out again.

“The director has been suspended from performing his duties … and production
has been halted until the matter is cleared up,” said Lidia Zalewska , a
spokeswoman for Smithfield’s Animex subsidiary, which owns Constar and 11
other meat processing plants in Poland.
